Hair of the Dog Sundays

Free live music is hard to find. GOOD free live music is even harder to find. Thankfully, here at Red Dog Music, we strive to entertain as much as humanly possible. For anybody that hasn’t caught wind of our free music showcase every Sunday, let me educate you on the matter…

Here’s the deal – FREE live music, every single Sunday, in-store at Red Dog Music, until the end of the world as we know it. Sounds pretty ace, doesn’t it? And there’s no catch. All you have to do is roll out your bed and make your way down to the store and we’ll have live music for you to either feast your ears and eyes on, or, better still, get involved with.

The days that you can get involved with are what we like to call our Hair of the Dog Sundays Open Couch Sessions. These take place on the first Sunday of every month, so if you’re feeling rock ‘n’ roll and fancy a bit of a sing song or a jam with some pals (or even with some complete strangers, if that floats your boat), come on down to the store and take a seat on our infamous and oh-so-comfortable couch and spend your Sunday playing some tunes. Anything goes.

Every other Sunday throughout the month at 3pm, we will feature a band or musician of our choice. So far we’ve had some wonderful live acts including the likes of Lee Patterson, Kirsty Almeida (Decca Records), Small Feet Little Toes, Stanley Odd and before the end of the year, we’ll also have The Banana Sessions. If you’d like to be featured at our Hair of the Dog Sundays Show, send an email to or give us a ring on 0131 229 8211.

Live music, we salute you! In the same way that we salute those about to rock… at Hair of the Dog Sundays.

Hi James. Cheers for getting in touch! We’re located in the Grassmarket, in Edinburgh. Just at the top of King Stables road, underneath the Castle. I’m about to send you an email to explain how the gigs work and we’ll see if we can work something out 🙂
