What difference do the different connectivity types such as USB and Firewire make? – Question of the Day

Not very much, really. Back in the 90s, the difference between Firewire and USB was astronomical. Firewire could deal with multitrack audio streams and high quality video, USB could barely handle your webcam. However, USB2 technology has now slightly exceeded the performance of Firewire; so in tangible terms the real question is “what spare port do I have on my computer?”
