Verden Studios are delighted to announce the end-of-project showcase event for the young bands and musicians who took part in the Verden Studios Demo Project 2012. Supported by Creative Scotland’s CashBack for Creativity programme, which re-invests money seized from criminals back into cultural activities for young people across Scotland.
The six acts selected for the Demo Project received tutoring in song writing, arrangement and performanceas well as funded rehearsal time before entering the studio to spend three days recording and a further two days mixing. The acts then worked with Cocoa Creative Consultants to design their CD. A consultation with Edinburgh promotion company, New Found Sound helped them draw up tailor made plans to get gigs and start building a fan base, as well as getting radio play, online promotion, securing festival slots and attracting a label.
The project is kindly supported by Red Dog Music, Drum Central, Out of Hand Ltd, B L Developments, Cocoa Creative Consultants, The Phillip Hills Partnership, Promodiscs and the Rotary Club of Portobello.
The acts…
The SouthpawsA power trio who deliver some explosive Hendrix-inspired Blues-Rock with the occasional dash of Funk mixed in. |

|
MothertoneA riff-tastic, Metal-monster four-piece influenced by Black Sabbath, Fu Manchu, T Rex and The Melvins for those who enjoy the occasional odd time signature with their chug. |
|
|
|
KarmatausA Rock trio who refuse to conform to the norm, wearing influences of Queens of The Stone Age, White Stripes and the Deftones but carving out their own unique, Alternative/Psychedelic niche. |

Gavin Fort, Studio Manager at Verden Studios, says:
‘We’ve all worked hard and the acts have all come a long way on this project and although this showcase marks the end of the project hopefully it is only the beginning for these six acts. Indeed, we are delighted to find out that one of last year’s acts – The Spook School – have just signed their first album record deal!’
If you fancy taking in these up & coming acts before they hit the big time, head along to the Demo Project showcase event:
