Nord recently released a particularly teasing teaser image with the announcement that we could expect something new at Musikmesse. What could we expect? Nord already have a comprehensive range of pianos and organs with the Stage, Electro and C2 ranges so we at Red Dog Towers are hoping for a new Nord synth. The phrase “we haven’t forgotten about our synthesiser roots” indicates this may well be what we can expect….
It’s been a while since the Nord Wave was released – it will soon be six years – and the Lead 2X will be celebrating its 10th birthday this year, so we’re due. But what will we get? It seems that there are quite a few people who would like to see a new Nord Modular; maybe the time is right for the Nord Modular G3?
An updated Wave/Lead combination synth would be nice to have though. Add the LED position knobs from the Lead 3, increase the number of simultaneous voices and the sample memory and throw in MIDI over USB and you’re moving towards a Nord Wave 2 or Lead 4, but maybe that would just be evolution. Is that what we want, or do we want revolution?
Maybe it’s time to break out the Anordion again, or maybe you’re hoping for something else…
