Something we say in our manifesto is that “We will treat our stores as musical hubs where like-minded musicians and producers can meet and relax without being pressured into making a purchase”. Well, we’re taking the ‘musical hub’ on tour on Wednesday 1st March as we present our ‘Open Stage Night’!
What is an open stage night?
Well, it’s like an open mic night, but better. It’s everything an open-mic night is, and more. It’s the difference between a sticky toffee, and sticky toffee pudding. It’s like cheese, but served as a cube on the end of a cocktail stick, mounted in a melon to form a crude porcupine-based structure.
In other words, it’s a night where the stage – not just the microphone – is open. There will be a microphone there, of course, but you don’t have to use it. If you want to set up your laptop and a controller or two and hit us with some live dub techno, contemplative ambient, or complex polyrhythm-based experimental electronica, we’d love to hear it!
If you’re a poet, a duo of MC and modular synthesist, an industrial folk band, a laptop-dj, a beatbox, zither and cajon trio, a story-telling and interperetive dance group, we’d love to hear you! And we’d love to hear you if you bring along your solo acoustic self, or if you plug in with your band, your producer or a hologram from the future or past.
Open stage night is about coming along, getting involved, playing live and letting the world hear your sounds!
We’ve got a Facebook event ready to go, so say you’re coming, spread the word and, if we can make a good night of it, we can have the place until 3am.
See you there!
