1. Hello! Who are you, where are you from and all that good stuff.
Hi, I’m Lewis Bigham AKA Glassmasterer, and I currently make music on the west coast of Scotland.
2. Tell us a bit about the music you make.
Anything you’d classify as experimental/electronic really, which is quite broad. I don’t really mind about genres and I like to have options when making music.
3. When did you start and what made you want to start making music?
I’ve always wanted to make albums for some reason. There’s always been that urge. When I was a little kid I used to sketch album title and cover ideas, they were probably all ridiculous David Bowie knockoffs though! It was really around when I was a teenager that I really started to teach myself how to write songs, and then a few years later I started getting really invested in making all forms of electronic music. It’s only recently that I feel comfortable enough to release it to the world.
4. Stage or studio?
That’s tough because it’s two forms of incredible enjoyment. I love watching people’s reactions from the stage, but I also love tweaking an EQ. I suppose it’s the studio right now because I’m really loving experimenting with new mixing techniques that I’m using for new material, I’m getting a real kick out of it.
5. What gear do you use to make your tunes?
Starting to swear by Ableton, but I still love and use Logic. I love using my Akai MPD32 right now for live shows, and a few old knackered boxes that bleep and bloop. My guitar is still useful. And tons of percussion too. Anything goes really in terms of what I’ll use to make a song.
6. And what is your choice bit of gear and why?
Never underestimate the power of a shaker. Those little things are great.
Right now I’ve just released my debut EP Dabble on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and basically all other streaming sites and online stores, and my second EP Deed will be coming out on the 15th of May. Both on Cat In The Attic!
