1. Hello! Who are you, where are you from and all that good stuff.
Hi, we’re Great Waves and we’re from County Durham in the north east of England. We consist of four people. Our lead singer and guitarist Khyle, our guitarist and vocalist David, our bassist Jack and our drummer Jason.
2. Tell us a bit about the music you make.
We love to write catchy riffs and hooks, as well as good structural music. We all live near the coast and the kind of music we write is quite Indie/Pop-esque so we thought the name would fit well. We take our influences from pop, indie, ambient/drone music and many heavy rock bands.
3. When did you start and what made you want to start making music?
We started as a two piece when our singer Khyle performed live on BBC Tees Introducing, both him and David wanted to start writing music that would fit well in charts but also be appreciated by the wider music industry.
4. Stage or studio?
Both are incredibly fun and have their own unique selling points, but its got to be the Stage. As much as we all enjoy recording in the studio and making our ideas become something solid, there’s nothing quite like performing that music we’ve so lovingly created live.
5. What gear do you use to make your tunes?
Both David & Khyle use Freshman Acoustics.
Jack: Fender Precision Bass
Jason: Natal Drums
6. And what is your choice bit of gear and why?
PRS Mira, since owning this guitar its my go-to. I can’t put the thing down for hours once I’ve picked it up and its an absolute pleasure to play. Always helps when its also a thing of beauty.
7. Where can we check out your tunes?
You can check out an early version of our track ‘Bottle of Glass’ on Spotify, otherwise there are live versions of our tracks on Facebook Keep an eye out for our EP coming out in July!
