Process your voice any way you like with the Boss VE500 Vocal Performer
Boss have released the VE500 Vocal Performer, their new multi-effects processor for vocals that’s designed to integrate in to a guitarists set-up.
The Boss VE-500 features automatic harmony/pitch correction, a vocoder, an onboard looper and an extensive selection of effects options. From just adding your reverb or a bit of subtle pitch-correction, to some pretty wild talkbox vocoder sounds, you can start processing and controlling your own vocal sound straight from your pedalboard.
Integrate with your guitar on stage
The VE-500 is simple to integrate with your own pedalboard setup. Plugging a guitar into the instrument input drives the harmony, pitch, and vocoder functions, while the Thru output provides an unprocessed signal to feed regular pedals. Three assignable foot-switches offer real-time performance control, and stereo XLR outputs enable processed vocal sounds to be sent directly to a PA mixer, stage monitor, or recording device.
Powered by Boss processing, the VE-500’s automatic harmony engine detects the chords and key played with a guitar to generate smooth and natural two- and three-part harmonies in real time. The harmony engine can alternately be driven via MIDI (through either the VE-500’s MIDI or USB inputs), letting you to generate live harmonies with a MIDI keyboard or DAW-based backing tracks too.
Vocoder sounds for everyone!
The VE-500’s vocoder function is derived from the Boss VO-1 Vocoder pedal. By vocalising into the connected mic as they play, you can instantly transform your guitar’s tone with cool synthesised electronic voices. You can also replicate traditional talk box sounds, providing access to classic “talking lead guitar” tones.
Craft nearly any vocal sound imaginable
Inside the Boss VE-500 you get an extensive selection of effects for crafting your vocal sounds. Included are compressor, EQ, and de-esser tools, plus superb reverb, delay, and modulation sounds, as well as speciality effects like distortion, filtering, and others. You can use up to nine effect sections simultaneously, and highly flexible routing options are available for processing live and harmonised vocals together or separately. The Boss VE500 of course also has an onboard looper too!
Save and load
With the Boss VE-500’s large display and panel knobs/buttons, it’s simple for users to edit sounds and save them in 99 user patch locations so you can recall while performing. Editor/librarian software is also available for tweaking and organising sounds from a computer via USB.
The Vocal Performer pedal will be available in store and online, and we’re now taking pre-orders. If you’d like to speak to our dedicated Boss specialist, or pop in for a demo, get in touch.
