Dubstep grannies & rapcore toddlers: how genre popularity varies with age
So, following on from our recent Musician’s Survey, we’ve been hard at work here at Red Dog Laboratories trying to turn the data into something interesting and useful. We haven’t managed to do that yet, but check out what we have done…
As musicians, we all love to discuss the various different genres out there, so the first thing we’ve looked at is how people’s liking of different types of music varies dependent on their age. Below is an interactive infographic that gives you the results in easy to swallow bar charts. Just click the different genres to display the relevant info.
This throws up some intriguing stuff: for example, people over the age of 65 are more likely to listen to Dubstep than those between the ages of 45 and 54, under 13s are keen on ska and electronica (and not much else), 19 to 24 year olds like Jazz more than 25 to 34 year olds, and much more.
