Wonderwall faces Wonderwall: Originals vs covers
Wonderwall is perhaps a bit of an obvious one, but it needs doing!
Released in 1995, in what I remember as a glorious summer that tailed off into rather forgettable autumn, Oasis’ Wonderwall, written by Noel Gallagher, was huge; it was everywhere. Having lost the Britpop summer battle to Blur after Country House beat Roll With It to the number one spot, Wonderwall suggested that Oasis might be winning the war…
However, the cover by Ryan Adams released in 2003, after being performed for a couple of years, received the stamp of approval from Noel Gallagher who began to play the song live in a style more like the Ryan Adams version.
So, which is your pick?
