Originals vs Covers: Tainted Love

Originals vs Covers: Tainted Love

Time for round, er… something… of our famed Originals vs Covers series. This time, we pit the original 60’s Northern Soul classic “Tainted Love” up against its much more famous 80’s Synth-Pop revival, and then against its new-millennium Industrial revamp.

Songwriter Ed Cobb apparently loved Soft Cell’s reinvention of his most famous work, but he unfortunately died 2 years before Marilyn Manson’s cover was released. All thing considered, we think that was probably for the best.

Gloria Jones / Ed Cobb (1965)

Soft Cell (1981)

Marilyn Manson (2001)
