Korg ARP Odyssey clone announced

Korg ARP Odyssey AnnouncedWe normally get a bit of a heads up when the manufacturers we deal with are about to announce something, but this has come straight out of the blue: Korg have officially announced that they will be launching an updated version of the legendary ARP Odyssey synth by the end of this year (September is the official date but don’t count on it!).

Used by everyone from Depeche Mode to Stevie Wonder to David Bowie, the Odyssey was one of the top-selling synths of the 70s, right up there with the miniMoog. No wonder: its aggressive oscillators could create sounds that would punch through any mix, whether they be squelching basses, squealing leads, or squirking FX (OK, I made up that last adjective for the sake of alliteration).

The idea of a 21st-century Korg ARP Odyssey, complete with digital control and knobs that don’t fall off is enough to make any self-respecting sythesist froth at the envelope…

You can get an idea of the sort of sounds this beast is capable of making in the following video:

We’ll of course let you know as and when we get more info…
