Jeff Bridges has put out a “sleeping album” and it’s as eerily terrifying as you’d expect (with audio)
Jeff Bridges – actor, musician & humanitarian campaigner – has just released an album of sleep-inspiring ambient soundscapes, spattered with pockets of spoken word. Not just any old spoken word, either; Jeff’s very own gnarled, human-Gruffalo murmur.
However, all is not quite as it seems. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but that album artwork is more than a little disconcerting. Visually calming, low-risk slumbertimes it is not. It’s like the beardy love-child of René Magritte and a tarantula.
If you’re into calming, soporific soundscapes to gently drift to sleep with, maybe give this one a miss. If “dark ambient” is your bag and you don’t mind the voice of a whisky-soaked stoner telling you the rocks you’ve just found by a stream aren’t actually rocks but Spanish doubloons, or telling you about his plans for an orbiting coffin-cum-satellite in a modulated alien voice, then you’ll probably love every second of this crazy, dark adventure.
Either way, consider buying it. If not for Bridges’ pure, unadulterated husk, then to donate to the No Kid Hungry charity that he so passionately supports.
