Roland tease some new Aira goings on…

If you’ve been to Roland’s Aira mini-site recently, you may have noticed a new teaser image. In case you didn’t, here it is:

New Roland Aira

What can we infer from this? Well, first of all, Musikmesse is just around the corner, kicking off in Frankfurt next week, but that’s not really news. So, perhaps the more interesting bit of text on the image is the bit on the left: start patching.

I wonder what that could mean?

From a company that makes synthesisers.

At least, unlike the original Aira teaser programme prior to the initial release of the range, we only have to wait a week to find out…

For those wanting to speculate however, you needn’t bother your own brain’s speculation centre, as many out there have done the hard work for you! Articles from both FACT and Attack magazines suggest that this could be the beginnings of an Aira modular synthesiser.

It’s not as if Roland doesn’t have any history in the modular synth world, let us not forget the System 100m and the System 700. And, of course, there have been clues such as the Aira-themed edition of the Reon Drift Box.

Obviously, we’ll have to wait until the official unveiling next week to find out what lurks beneath the shadows, but a collection of Aira synth modules would certainly be something to look forward to over the coming year…

Fortunately, we’ll be sending our crack blogging team to Frankfurt next week (and they’ll be stopping off at the UK Blog Awards ceremony on the way home) and, armed with camera and trusty Moleskine/Waterman combination, the Red Dog Blog and @reddogmusic on Twitter should be on your ‘to look at for the second half of next week’ list.
